ABOUT RICH
I’m Rich Lakos — a London-based photographer (originally from Australia) with a background in acting and a healthy tendency to drink too much coffee. I love making visually rich, emotionally charged, and distinctive images for people and projects that want to make a bold impression — on the page, the screen, or a billboard on a crowded Tube platform.
Before I picked up a camera, I trained as an actor. Turns out I was better behind the lens. That training stuck, though — I shoot like a director, using performance, emotion, and a sense of storytelling and world-building to create images that do more than just capture a moment. I want them to feel like a glimpse into a world — as if the story’s already in motion, and you’ve just happened to look in.
Clients come to me when they need imagery that does more than sell. Whether it’s a high-concept campaign, an editorial feature, or an intimate portrait, I collaborate closely, bring a sense of calm to the chaos, and aim to make the process collaborative, enjoyable, creative, and occasionally even fun.
My work has been featured in the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition, The Guardian, The Stage, The Observer, Esquire, Flaunt, Exeunt and 1883 Magazine. I’ve collaborated with a wide range of creative organisations — from national institutions like the BBC, the Royal Shakespeare Company, and the National Theatre, to independent producers, brands, and artists.
I’m especially interested in bringing this approach to commercial, editorial, and branded work that values narrative, personality, and strong visual identity.
